The Olympia Lakefair Races (3K, 8K and Half Marathon) are organized by the Lake Run Organization, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and the Olympia Downtown Rotary Club. The primary purpose of the races is to raise money for local public high school cross country and track & field programs and local Rotary youth scholarships and grants. The races are traditionally held the third Saturday of July, with the races starting at 7am (Half Marathon), 8am (8K), and 8:05am (3K). The 3K race is free to any participant 14 years and younger. There are prizes for overall, masters (40+), super masters (50+), and top three 5-year age group winners up to 90+ in each race. This course is 99% decline for 13.1 Miles. 2600 feet of decline with very little incline or even flat portions. This course is not just fast but beautiful. Aspens, Pines, rivers, throughout the route. This route starts at one of the highest elevations in Utah for races. Last year July 4 the starting point still had snow all around. This beautiful lake will host the South Island Half Marathon and 1/6 Marathon. Held in the beautiful Lake Hood catchment, the run will see runners run around the lake and experience amazing water views throughout the run. Then some of the most amazing home and garden settings and reserves in the South Island. South Island Half Marathon will cater for all runners; whether you're a beginner or an elite runner, this fast-flat course will give you the opportunity to do one of the fastest half's you ve ever done. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WYOMING — 2024-08-10 — Laramie. "Med Bow Rail Marathon and Half Marathon". The Friends of the Medicine Bow Rail Trail host the Med Bow Rail Marathon & Half Marathon. The races showcase the beautiful Medicine Bow Rail Trail and provide a unique high-elevation racing experience. The marathon course covers the Rail Trail from end-to-end and averages 8,926 feet in elevation. The trail is a gently graded, wide, gravel path. Marathon participants follow the course through two states (the trail briefly dips into Colorado after starting just north of the State line) and finish at a serene mountain lake. The half-marathon course mirrors much of the northern portion of the marathon course, making two loops around Lake Owen with the remainder of the course on the Rail Trail. Course maps are available on the event web page. All race proceeds fund trail upkeep and improvement, and the races are intended to promote use of the trail. The event provides a fun and safe way to experience the trail, both competitively and non-competitively. The races are open to all-comers. The Full Marathon starts overlooking Salt Lake City at the Big Mountain Pass at the top of Emigration Canyon and heads East. This course follows along pine trees, aspens and follows several miles along the East Canyon Reservoir. The Full joins Half Marathon about 3/4 around East Canyon Reservoir where the Half Marathons starts and then heads down Red Rock Canyon which has great views and landscapes and unique rock formations. Around Mile 20 of the race the course turns into farmland with beautiful fields of grain and cool barns.
