This Twin Cities-based race starts in the Stillwater, Minnesota area and finishes in Hudson, Wisc. Runners cross the I-94 bridge over the St. Croix River, celebrating the friendly rivalry among these two upper-midwest states. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WYOMING — 2025-08-09 — Laramie. "Med Bow Rail Marathon and Half Marathon". The Friends of the Medicine Bow Rail Trail host the Med Bow Rail Marathon & Half Marathon. The races showcase the beautiful Medicine Bow Rail Trail and provide a unique high-elevation racing experience. The marathon course covers the Rail Trail from end-to-end and averages 8,926 feet in elevation. The trail is a gently graded, wide, gravel path. Marathon participants follow the course through two states (the trail briefly dips into Colorado after starting just north of the State line) and finish at a serene mountain lake. The half-marathon course mirrors much of the northern portion of the marathon course, making two loops around Lake Owen with the remainder of the course on the Rail Trail. Course maps are available on the event web page. All race proceeds fund trail upkeep and improvement, and the races are intended to promote use of the trail. The event provides a fun and safe way to experience the trail, both competitively and non-competitively. The races are open to all-comers. The races are timed and fully staffed at 5 aid stations, with a start/finish area at Lake Owen, near Albany, WY. All participants receive a race t-shirt. ICELAND — 2025-08-23 — Reykjavik. "Islandsbanki's Reykjavik Marathon". The annual Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon takes place in August, the same day as Reykjavik Culture Night. The Marathon starts and finishes in Laekjargata, in the heart of Reykjavik. Runners can choose from four different distances: marathon, half marathon, 10 km race and the Fun Run (3K). The race offers an atmosphere that is both relaxed and welcoming. Around 1,500 runners participate in the marathon and 3,000 in the half marathon, making both races less crowded than is generally the case in larger events. Since the Reykjavik Marathon also includes 10k and a fun run, it's also a family event and fits all age groups and levels. The running conditions in the Reykjavik Marathon are usually extremely comfortable - the route is smoothly paved and very flat, while the weather tends to be breezy and in the mid-teens centigrade. Much of the Reykjavik Marathon route is along the coastline of Reykjavik and Seltjarnarnes, offering participants the benefits of the fresh breeze from the ocean with some blue mountains in the backdrop. UNITED KINGDOM ENGLAND — 2025-08-29 — Hope Cove. "Something Wild Trail Festival". The 11th Something Wild Festival 2025 has Devon’s best trail running routes at its heart, a wonderful new venue and new routes, taking in the Avon and Salcombe estuaries and some of the best sections of the South West Coast Path. Perched next to the sea, our farm field festival site is in the perfect spot, at the fulcrum of the event routes, with the camping site, at the fulcrum of the race routes. We have moved the festival back to August, to celebrate the end of summer and as the last hurrah before the kids go back to school (in some cases). Make this an autumn to remember and bring your family. This year, we are kicking off the festival with a communal meal and live music, preceded by a cafe and bar, selling locally brewed beer, non-alcoholic drinks, vodka and gin, as well as cocktails. The Festival site The farmer has kindly given access to his fields, overlooking the idyllic Hope Cove, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better location to wake up to in the southwest. close to ideal swimming spots in Hope Cove, East Soar and Bantham Bay. This year, we will have a camp village and festival village, which will be clearly separated, to allow flow and easy access. The campsite is suitable for up to 100 tents, parking and camper vans, as well as and serving as the fulcrum for all our trail events, which is ideal for spectators. We’ll be offering extra compost toilet facilities and warm showers, as well as two lovely venues for our speaker’s and music evening. Unique South West Coast Path Trails We have lined up some of the best coast routes on the South West Coast path for our night run, 5k, 10k or half marathon, marathon and Summit Wild Ultra as well as kid’s races. We will kick off the festival with a family-friendly guided run on Friday before the swim run and Hard Rock Coast swim, as well as 10k and 5k events on Saturday and the half marathon, marathon and ultra on Sunday. On Friday and Saturday evening, there will be a fire in the festival field with live music and a communal meal option on Friday and Sunday, alongside our caterers. Forest School You can drop your kids at forest school from 10am to 12 and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, with our experienced and qualified forest school leader Muddy Petals, while taking part in an event, or one of our guided wild swims. To join the forest school, you can buy tickets separately or book weekender tickets (camping and parking). Entertainment There’ll be children’s entertainments and the cafe and bar open on Friday evening to kick start the weekend. On Saturday there’s a speaker’s afternoon, yoga, massage, movement sessions, forest school and live music. The Full Marathon starts overlooking Salt Lake City at the Big Mountain Pass at the top of Emigration Canyon and heads East. This course follows along pine trees, aspens and follows several miles along the East Canyon Reservoir. The Full joins Half Marathon about 3/4 around East Canyon Reservoir where the Half Marathons starts and then heads down Red Rock Canyon which has great views and landscapes and unique rock formations. Around Mile 20 of the race the course turns into farmland with beautiful fields of grain and cool barns. When you sign up, we give you the support you need to help you achieve your goals and fitness. We also invite you to be part of our local run clubs that support your fitness journey. Timing is optional: you may track your time on an app (Strava, RunKeeper, Nike Run, etc.) and submit your times with our easy form to be posted online, or you can ask our coordinators to help keep track of your time. No timing chips—this is a stress-free run to support you in achieving your goals! What you get (Swag Bag): Running T-Shirt (shipped to the address you register with—US only), finisher's towel or giveaway, finisher's medal, digital training pack, online results and certificate of completion, invitation to join one of our local running clubs. We now have technical running shirts (optional). These lightweight, moisture-wicking shirts can be upgraded for just $5 more. No hassle of picking up packets required! Swag is shipped directly to your address (please make sure you provide your full, correct US mailing address including apartment number and check spelling). Race bibs are provided on race day. You will get your shirt at your mailing address the week of your race. We will email you a final update the Wednesday before the race with final details and course maps. Do we accept last minute registrations? Yes, but please note that it takes time for us to ship your shirt. Your shirt will likely arrive after the run. You can wear any shirt you find appropriate to run the race! Wave Times (email us your desired wave time): Wave A: 7:30 AM, Wave B: 8:00 AM, Wave C: 8:30 AM. Waves filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Late runners can run upon arrival (please note our coordinators stay 3 hours after the first wave). For more FAQs, visit our website. Virtual Run Option: Our virtual run uniquely offers a training pack with digital tools to support your run. Virtual runs can be done any time and place of your choosing using any tracking device (optional). After you finish, you can submit your results to receive your medal.
